Trolls are mean, so now I wander the lands killing any troll I see. I've seen a couple with a Troll inside, and sometimes I can see a Troll spawning outside of the cave leaving it empty inside. You can find some rubies and gold inside sometimes. Just don't try to melee the trolls unless you're good a dodge rolling.

The way to prevent trolls from spawning is to ensure all nearby land is within 20 meters of such a structure. Trolls can appear anywhere there is a Black Forest. Just like how greydwarfs spawn. Cover the island with workbenches and it should prevent anything from spawning. That’s how small the island is. Not very large.
