Easily my favorite spot outside the northern highlands. Near the Hand of the Maker is really good for single player. If you're concerned about resource spread, most of the North has high amounts of iron and coal. Directly east of the mounds of the dead has a great deal of resources and the Wights for gossamer.

There's water for fishing, and bark and plant matter in decent quality for small scale work. No brimstone at all, but that's where being right next door to the obelisk comes in.
