Apr 25, 2022 · In my opinion I would recommend trying the 68 grain Underwood XD 380 rounds (.380 ACP 68gr. Xtreme Defender Solid Monolithic Hunting & Self Defense Ammo). The lighter bullet means both less recoil and greater energy (as the bullet travels faster and kinetic energy equals 1/2 times mass times velocity squared). According to underwood the 68gr are higher velocity than the 90gr (1800fps vs 1475fps) and leave a larger wound channel in ballistic gel. However the 90gr do a little better when shooting through heavy barriers such as glass, wood, and sheet metal.
