Aug 13, 2012 · Aug 13, 2012. 0. Hi guys, I own a Volvo Truck 2008, ISX Cummins 400hp engine. The regen is in progress every 300-400 miles (at least 2x a day). The process is finished every time in about 30-40 minutes when driving. If I am stuck in the stop and go driving conditions, it takes more than hour to complete the process. Follow these four simple actions: 1. Regularly drive your Toyota on highways at speeds of between 40-55mph for around 20-30 minutes. 2. Avoid spending unnecessary amounts of time with the engine idling. 3, Try to limit the frequency of short journeys where the engine is running for less than ten minutes. 4.I was driving my 2015 Jeep GC Diesel Summit the other day and got the regen message. Shortly after that, the message changed to filter full, see dealer, and the car went into limp mode. The car has 69,000 miles on it but the engine only has 25,000 due to a sudden seizure because of poor manufacturing quality. I had the car towed to the dealer. Regens are a normal occurrence on modern diesels since 2007 equipped with a dpf. Under ideal circumstances you’ll never know it’s happening aside from the message on the dash. It’s elevating exhaust gas temperature to catalyze the soot trapped in the dpf and turn it into ash.
